Clonmel Celtic is a football club based  on the Clonmel Bypass close to the Fethard street indirect in Co.Tipperary. It was built up as a result of a gathering that took place in July 2003 between representatives from Clonmel Evergreen FC and St Olivers Boys FC where they met to discuss the possibility of the two clubs amalgamating. Both St Olivers Boys and Clonmel Evergreen were settled junior groups in Clonmel. In 1998 St Olivers and St Martins converged to shape St Olivers Boys. For a number of years now the club had been attempting to get their own playing facilities however it came to no avail. A very decent junior team emerged from the amalgamation and this group developed in quality and started to contend well with the more settled clubs in Tipperary like St Michaels and Clonmel Town. The newly formed group came near a title in 2002 where they finished runners up. Clonmel Evergreen were a solid unit during the nineties and furthermore verged on winning the league however once again Town and Michaels appeared to be consistently there to deny them of victory in the league. They purchased their own playing pitch from Clonmel Og on the Clonmel Bypass close to the Fethard Rd Roundabout. Shockingly on the pitch the lesser group endured a difficult run where they got relegated from the Premier League . They still had a promising youth group coming through however. So an entrenched junior squad, a youth squad with a great deal of potential and a fine soccer pitch were all components, which made the amalgamation an alluring choice. Clonmel Celtic’s first year competing was a noteworthy one with the youth team victorious in the Munster Youths Cup and the club being granted government awards of up to €200,000 to enhance the development of their facilities.

Under the master direction of managers Kenny O’Shea and Carl Condon Clonmel Celtic developed into a talented soccer group in the late noughties. Despite the fact that the club had experienced success when winning the Munster Youths Cup in 2004 with a 2-0 win against Waterford Bohemians they had never been victorious at Junior Level. This all changed in May 2009 when Clonmel Celtic were crowned the Tipperary Cup champions after a paramount 2-1 win over neighbors Clonmel Town in Cahir. It was the beginning of a brilliant period for the club at Junior level and in 2010 they superbly retained the Tipperary Cup after a 3-1 additional time prevail over Carrick-on-Suir based Rock Rovers. There were clear signs of improvement for the club in 2013 when they won the TSDL Premier League for the first time in their history. In 2015 they repeated this where they stunningly secured by the TSDL Premier League title again with a 1-0 win in their last game away to the reigning champions St Michaels. At this point Celtic were beginning to become a threat outside the area of Clonmel with journeys to the semi finals of the FAI Junior Cup in 2012 and 2015 and a Munster Junior Cup Final appearance in 2013. In 2013 the club won their only provincial trophy to date when they defeated Clare side Avenue Utd 2-1 in the final of the Munster Champions League Trophy Final at Celtic Park.
